Phase 2 was a lot harder for me than I first thought it would be, Excel was tougher than I had imagined. My motivation took a hit and I struggled to keep up with my work, but the semester's not over yet and I am determined to finish strong.
I chose the topic 5.9.4 Formulas in Tables. I learned a lot from excel, learning how useful tables can be in handling information has been helpful. Once the information and formulas are input it gives us calculated columns that update on their own if anything changes the whole table gets automatically updated.
I feel like phase 2 has shown me a lot of necessary skills that I would be using while pursuing a degree in accounting since spreadsheets are a huge part of the work. After falling behind and barely catching up on work, I will definitely be doing more to improve and do my best to keep up as well as getting ahead and getting the most out of my classes.
Hi Valeria, your post explains really well how Phase 2 starts feeling closer to actual workplace tasks instead of just random computer exercises. The part about tables automatically updating information stood out because that is one of those features that quietly saves people from doing repetitive work over and over again. It is interesting how something that looks simple at first becomes extremely useful once there is a large amount of data involved.
ReplyDeleteWhat stood out to me most was your focus on improving even after struggling to keep up. Phase 2 feels like the moment Excel stops holding everyone’s hand and suddenly expects us to understand the logic behind formulas, formatting, and organization all at once. Sometimes the hardest part is not even building the formula, it is trying to figure out why Excel believes your completely reasonable answer is somehow wrong. Your post still shows determination though, and that mindset probably matters more than getting everything perfect on the first attempt.
Excel may have been tougher than you had imaged but earning a perfect score on the MO-210 Excel exam means Valeria > Microsoft Excel :-)
ReplyDeleteYou will finish IS101-3003/5, Spring 2026 strong ^_^
Hi Valeria, Excel is definitely a big part of being an accountant. Congrats on getting a perfect score on the MO_210 Excel exam!
ReplyDeleteHi Valeria, congrats on your perfect score but also you will need excel a bunch as an accountant so it's great that you conquered it. It is hard to keep motivation up the last month or two of the semester but I hope you were able to get through it!
ReplyDeleteFinishing strong that's the spirit! And when I opened your blog I thought I was an ant lost in plants in someone's backyard. The chapter you chose is interesting. Having something update automatically can save so much time when you're organizing huge sets of data.
ReplyDeleteHi Valeria, I am glad you pushed trough to achieve your goal!
ReplyDeleteIndeed, Excel was tougher than Phase 1 but I consider it a fun challenge.
Hello Valeria, I honestly thought Excel was way harder than I expected too ðŸ˜. But I like that even after struggling a bit, you’re still determined to finish strong. The formulas in tables feature was really useful once everything finally started making sense.
ReplyDeleteHey Valeria, excel was definitely the hardest of the bunch, and i've learned that was not a phase you want to fall behind on. But good for you for still catching up and completing the assignments that was required.
ReplyDeleteHello Valeria. Excel will definitely be useful for a career in accounting. I'm glad you'll be able to apply your knowledge to your job!
ReplyDeleteHello Valeria. I struggle with motivation too what's important is just getting through it. I know you'll be able to keep up in all of your classes, try and stay positive!
ReplyDeleteHi Valeria, Excel was really tough for me too. It has a lot of different features and formulas that can be easy to forget, but they’re really important to get the right results. I can relate to struggling a bit but still trying to improve.
ReplyDeleteHey Valeria, taking a hit, struggling, but deciding to tough it out and keep moving forward anyway shows just how brave and hard working you are. You deserve a break and to relax now that it's all over! Hopefully it is all done for you unlike me who's still catching up haha :)
ReplyDeleteHey Valeria, Professor Wu did say that it would get harder before it got easy, and the PowerPoint portion not only was short but easy and I think that's what I looked forward to during this phase.
ReplyDeleteHey Valeria! I really enjoy how Excel updates the calculations for us as soon as the cell values change! It's super helpful!
ReplyDeleteHi Valeria, I can relate to how tough that learning the concepts in Excel is. The application has many formulas that you must memorize. However, I liked how you didn’t give up on your IS101 coursework. Learning how to use Excel might make your classes in accounting easier.
ReplyDeleteHi Valeria, doing your best and getting the most out of your classes is the best mindset to have because it shows you won't give up. I agree, Excel can be really tough, especially compared to Word, but once you get the hang of it, it is a very useful tool, especially in accounting. I believe you'll do fine, keep up the momentum and hope all goes well!
